EcoFest

Celebrate Ecofest at Brush Strokes, our monthly craft club at Highland Park Library!

Discover the traditional art of kusaki-zome and learn to make colourful bookmarks using foraged flowers and natural dyes derived from kitchen scraps.

Kusaki-zome is a traditional Japanese craft that involves dyeing textiles using natural plant-based dyes. This technique has a long history in Japan and is characterised by the use of leaves, flowers, and roots, to create vibrant and often intricate patterns on fabrics.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to delve into the world of kusaki-zome and create your own eco-friendly masterpieces!

Please note that this will be a hands-on experience involving tools, children under 12 must be supervised by an adult.

This event is part of EcoFest, an annual month-long festival taking place Friday 15 March – Sunday 14 April 2024. Inspiring climate action across Tāmaki Makaurau, it is hosted in collaboration by EcoMatters, Kaipātiki Project, Beautification Trust and Waiheke Resources Trust, and proudly supported by Auckland Council.
