In Jacqueline Bublitz’s new novel Leave the Girls Behind, Ruth-Ann Baker is haunted by suspicions surrounding the murder of her childhood friend. She drops out of college and begins a hunt that takes her to three women and the feeling that one of them knows the truth. All will be revealed with the launch of this much anticipated thriller, and a chance to share wine and nibbles with the author and Queenstown’s favourite New Yorker Margaret O’Hanlon.

This event is generously supported by Craigs Investment Partners.

Jacqueline 'Rock' Bublitz is a writer, feminist and arachnophobe, who lives between Melbourne, Australia, and her home town on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. She wrote her debut novel Before You Knew My Name after spending a summer in New York. The novel won the Best Crime Novel and Best First Novel at the Ngaio Marsh Awards in 2022. She was a special guest of Queenstown Writers Festival that same year and we are so pleased she has returned to share the launch of her second book with us.

Margaret O’Hanlon was born and raised in New York City. She attended an arts college (SUNY Purchase in upstate New York) where she studied film and sociology. She learned and developed her love of scriptwriting while at university. After emigrating to New Zealand she wrote original scripts for nine musicals and a host of smaller stage productions. She is also a writer of short stories and short screenplays. In 2020 Margaret was awarded a New Zealander of the Year Local Hero award for her contribution to the arts in the Wakatipu.
