Bazurka - Ish at Vogelmorn Upstairs

Join us at the Vogelmorn Upstairs for an intimate evening of folk and traditional music from two of New Zealand's best and brightest world/folk bands. Local legends Bazurka will be joined by Hawke's Bay Heavyweights Ish for a very special one off concert up in the heights of Vogeltown.

Ish was created by Dana Parkhill, herself representative of the band's startling eclecticism. A classical flautist who has belly-danced her way through Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco, Ish is the band she has dreamed of for years. Their repertoire takes in Bulgaria, Sweden, Moldova, Ireland, Brittany, Barcelona and beyond, layered with exuberant Klezmer, cool Latin Cumbia and original tunes by or created for the band

Bazurka are a seven piece Balkan fusion ensemble. Forged in the fires of the cultural melting pot that is Newtown, and tempered by passion, heartache, and a dash of madness, their music is bold, brooding, and beautiful. They’ll make you laugh, they’ll make you cry, they’ll make you dance like your life depended on it.

Vogelmorn Upstairs is not a wheelchair accessible building. There is an accessible bathroom in the space. This is an all ages venue but those under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a designated adult after 8pm. The Vogelmorn Precinct is a community space located in a residential area. With that in mind, the team ask that you be kind to
others' and that when you leave the gig, you do so quietly to avoid disturbing our neighbours.
