The Bard + Garden Party = The Barden Party is coming back to Larnach Castle this March with another piece of Shakesperian magic like you've never seen before.

Get ready for an injection of joy into your summer. Imagine the classic love story of Romeo and Juliet with a twist, being played out in a garden near you! Award-winning theatre company, The Barden Party is bringing their usual fun-loving spin to R&J and filling Shakespeare's most famous play with their general hilarious, heartfelt antics. Set as modern-bohemian romance put to Kiwi and Australian music you love, and that you’ve never heard before. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll dance the night away.

The professional travelling Shakesperarean theatre company was born in Director Laura Irish's backyard in New Zealand and became a sell-out sensation across the country, picking up awards and accolades along its 50-show season. That includes the Excellence Award at last year's Dunedin Fringe Festival for its sell out show at Larnach Castle. Bring your own blankets, chairs, cushions, picnics, and soft drinks. A selection of wine, beer and juice will be available to purchase from the Larnach Castle bar. Due to our licence no BYO on alcoholic beverages.

This event will take place outside in the grounds of Larnach Castle Garden. In the event that we are unable to proceed due to extreme weather we will move to the Larnach Castle Ballroom.
