Regular favourites the Amici Ensemble, led by NZSO Associate Concertmaster Donald Armstrong, return to Waikanae on Saturday 27 April with a delightful programme of string music. Opening the concert are two brief New Zealand items, a movement from the String Trio by Ronald Tremain, and Salina Fisher's 'Yabo' for Violin and Viola. Two important works for string quintet follow - they are both viola quintets - that is, there is an additional viola added to the standard string quartet combination. Mozart's Quintet in C, K515, and Brahms' Quintet No 2 in G Major, Opus 111, are both mature works that stand among the greatest masterpieces of these two famous composers. Donald Armstrong and Yuka Eguchi (violins) will be joined by violists Andrew Thomson and Alexander McFarlane, with Andrew Joyce on cello. All the musicians are prominent leading NZSO players.

Door sales will be available or tickets can be purchased from Waikanae New World or Moby Dickens Books in Paraparaumu Beach. For enquiries about online sales, and for information about membership or season tickets please visit www.waikanaemusic.org.nz or phone 022 345 5316.
