Acid Forest: Lithuanian Film Festival

Lithuanian Film Festival in New Zealand presents:

Tourists from around the world visit a hauntingly beautiful dead forest, now home to thousands of black cormorants. To some, the forest evokes images of a nuclear fallout, while others are reminded of Hitchcock’s classic, The Birds. Filmed from the perspective of the cormorants, we observe curious humans exploring this eerie landscape.

The story gradually unfolds, revealing that this forest was once an ancient pine sanctuary. However, the arrival of a few cormorants turned into an overwhelming invasion, with the birds killing the trees in an unexpected way—through their droppings. The human reactions and observations to this transformed environment are as complex and intriguing as the forest’s own history.

This thought-provoking documentary captures human reactions to the eerie environment, offering a unique perspective on the natural world.
