A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is a Shakespearean comedy that has mesmerized and delighted audiences for over 400 years. Shakespeare makes fun of romantic love, with its often crazy crushes and silly infatuations; the ‘lovers’ fall in and out of love at the mere splash of a magical, love potion. The fairy kingdom are no wiser; the fairy King (Oberon) and his Queen (Titania) are estranged, locked in a vicious squabble over a little ‘changeling boy.’ Meanwhile a group of hopeless actors ‘the mechanicals’ are trying to rehearse a play for the Duke’s wedding day. There is mayhem and magic when all these characters bumble into each other in the forest, played by our very own Years 6 and 8 boys.
