Join red zone rangers, locals and entomologists from University of Canterbury as they discover what's already living in a section of the red zone and then plant to create more habitat.

Neighbours have been caring for this section since it was cleared, and now we plan to turn it into a living learning destination garden, to showcase how to encourage wildlife into your own backyard.

We will start with checking the traps that have been laid out a few nights before. Then plant wildlife-friendly plants to create more habitat. Find out what plants lizards, invertebrates and birds love to live with.

This event is part of Conservation Week 2023.
