Catch a charter bus to experience stunning views from the lookout and beautiful podocarp forest.
Join Masterton Tramping Club for this 4km, approx. 3 hour return walk from the Pūkaha Mount Bruce National Wildlife Centre visitor centre.
Te Arapiki o Tawhaki loop track starts just behind the visitor centre and ascends 180 metres, steeply in places, a zig-zag track at times. The track is a well-maintained forest floor, it could be muddy, slippery or covered in leaves.
Your Tramping Club guides will point out large forest trees, explain the predator traps you see and identify native bird calls.
At the lookout – a chance to have a rest, look at the local landmarks and the amazing view over the whole Te Tapere Nui o Whātonga.
Included: a welcome from Pukaha staff with introduction talk, a hot drink and donation to the Pukaha Restoration project.
Pukaha Mount Bruce is a partnership with Rangitāne o Tamaki Nui-ā-Rua, Rangitāne Tū Mai Ra Trust and the Department of Conservation.
