Wairarapa Walking Festival 2023 - Mangatarere 810

Explore the beautiful but challenging Tararua Ranges from the Mangatarere Valley road-end. Not for tramping beginners.

Members of the South Wairarapa Tramping Club will lead this trip.

Cross the upper reaches of the Mangatarere River, walk through mixed beech and podocarp forest up to a high point at 810m, looking across to the peaks of Taratahi/ Holdsworth, Cone and others.

Some steep and muddy sections. Last section off the beaten track!

Bring snacks, lunch and water, walking boots and jacket.
