Toi Pōneke Arts Centre has been a key part of Wellington City Council’s support for the creative sector in the city. The current lease renewal is due in 2025 and our move into the action phase of the Aho Tini 2030 Arts, Culture, and Creativity Strategy, we have an opportunity to think about what an accessible, inclusive arts centre model, which meets the needs of diverse communities, supports artist development, provides career pathways, and demonstrates true partnership with mana whenua and Māori, could look like for the Wellington arts and creative sector.

Join us in an exciting series of talks and discussions, taking place in some of our city’s fabulous creative spaces in March (all listed on eventfinda - search 'Toi Pōneke'). We have an inspiring line-up of speakers and there will be plenty of time for discussion and input. In this talk Tānemahuta Gray, Herbert Bartley, Ariki Brightwell (speakers may change) invite discussion around the relationship between a physical space, an arts group and the community that's generated. Hear from several communities that have formed around collaborative art making and physical hubs or spaces.

Register now, or if you are unable to attend provide your feed back into what a new arts centre model could look like, on the Wellington City Council 'Re-imagining Toi Pōneke' project page: wcc.nz/reimagining-toi-poneke

Please note: This venue is not wheelchair accessible. If you have accessibility needs you would like to discuss, please contact pippa.sanderson@wcc.govt.nz.

This is an in-person only event. However, the event will be recorded and shared on the WCC YouTube channel. You can also complete the only survey on the project page linked above.
