Celebrate the Wellington Heritage Festival 2023 with the Friends of Bolton Street Cemetery!

Hear stories about the lives of little-known and well-known Wellingtonians, a few villains, and some interesting gravestones. This guided tour is a special opportunity to learn about those buried in Bolton Street Cemetery, Wellington’s first cemetery.

The tour starts at Bolton Street Cemetery, Kinross Street entrance. The tour ends at the Bolton Street Cemetery Museum.
Please wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. Some of the paths are steep and can be slippery, care is required. The tour may be cancelled in bad weather.

The Friends of Bolton Street Cemetery are an enthusiastic group of volunteers, some living in the neighbourhood, and some are descendants of people buried in the cemetery. Learn more about them and join through the website linked above.
