Tauranga Historical Society is thrilled to announce the upcoming exhibition, Kōwhaiwhai Noa o Te Papa, by artist and Tauranga Historical Society Committee member Joseph McAuley. The kōwhaiwhai designs will be on display in the People’s Gallery at the Tauranga Historic Village from 15th September to 7th October 2023, and will sit alongside an architectural model exhibition by the Waikato - Bay of Plenty Architects.

Joseph’s set of kōwhaiwhai reflect the cultural landscape of the historic Te Papa Peninsula and Tauranga CBD. His extensive research over several years has been supported by members of the Tauranga Historical Society who value the importance of the kaupapa to the understanding of our past, our present, and our future.

Join us for this special THS Talk during which Joseph will share the stories of the historic Te Papa Peninsula and Tauranga CBD and how they are shared and celebrated in his kōwhaiwhai designs.

Koha entry.
