Get ready to groan! Wits have been sharpened, wea-puns will be wielded, funny bones may well be broken. Will our competitors pun-ble under the pressure?!

After sold-out and truly cringe-worthy shows across the country, Pun Battle is back in Pōneke for the first time since 2021. Come along and see the city's smartest alecks, wordiest nerds and biggest pun-ks, punslingers and pun-dits battle it out in an intense and hilarious head-to-head pun-off. With a total of over $1500 (!) cash prize money on the line, you could say that the stakes are pun-ishing.

Created and hosted by the notorious Hugo Grrrl.

Starring an all-star cast of pun champions:
- Peter Bailie: Winner of The New Zealand Pun Battle Final 2019
- Yang Liu: Winner of The Wellington Pun Battle Final 2020
- Timothy Keats: Winner of The Wellington Pun Battle Final 2019
- Susan Willians: Winner of The Wellington Pun Battle Fringe Special 2018
- Sara Fagan-Hirsch: Winner of The Wellington Pun Battle Semi-Final 2019
- David Bowers-Mason: 2nd Place in The Wellington Pun Battle Final 2017
- Jules Daniel: MVP of The Wellington Pun Battle Final 2018
- Cat Reynolds: People’s Choice Punner

One night only! 6pm, Saturday December 16th at Te Auaha. Book now.

And why not make a night of it? Get a package deal and see Idiom: The Iconic Variety Show at Te Auaha at 8pm straight after.

Please note that seating is not allocated, so make sure to rock up early to secure a good vantage point for this nonsense.

Expect utter pundemonium as we decide once and for all if the pun is mightier than the sword. Because, as we all know, a good pun is its own re-word.
