We welcome you to celebrate this exhibition of work by artist Justine Munn.

The exhibition in Te Whare Taonga Gallery - Okorore Ngā Toi Māori represents the artist's final body of work as part of her Masters of Māori visual art through Toi oho ki Apiti - Massey University.
Justine explores thoughts and emotions through the expressions that she observes in the people around her. These figurative paintings reflect people in situations that are 'of the moment.'
The artist explores the life of her subjects behind the scenes as well as after events.

Justine Munn has studied extensively completing:
A Diploma in Art and Design (2006-2008)
Advance diploma in Art and Design (2010)
Postgraduate Diploma in Māori Visual Art (2022)
The Artist majored in painting, drawing and screen printing.
Justine has exhibited her exhibition; 'Matatau' at Te Manawa Art Gallery in Palmerston North. (2021)
Justine was a finalist of the Miles Art Award in 2022 and received the Emerging Artist Award sponsored by the Incubator Creative Hub.
Justine's objective is to continue in this journey of painting which highlights and celebrates Toi Māori artists in painting and the Mana Wahine of Māori painters.
She is influenced by painters such as Robyn Kahukiwa, Hiria Anderson, Star Gossage, Kura Te Waru Rewiri, Emily Karaka, and other wahine māori painters who have expressed contemporary māori paintings from the kaupapa of Whakapapa, Whānau, Whenua.

Friday 15th September 5:30-7:00pm. Everyone welcome.
On display in Okorore- Ngā Toi Māori - Whare Taonga Gallery.
16th September – 14th October.
Gallery open: Tuesday – Saturday, 10am – 2.30pm
