Tall Poppies is a show in which you (the audience) are invited to prepare a five to seven-minute true story about yourself.
The theme this time is Love, Actually:
We want your stories of life-affirming adoration, skepticism-affirming heartbreak, and everything in between. Share your adventures in romantic love, romantic friendship, admiration for heroes or pets, love for your work or hobbies, primal love for family, and the list continues. Dish the dirt on dates gone wrong, wolves in sheep’s clothing, attachment acrobatics, and even loss, if you feel comfy sharing. On the heels of Cupid’s special, corporate holiday, we want your stories about that universal feeling that guides our passions and pinings.
Do I have to tell a story?
No, most of the audience will just watch. But seven names will be drawn to share their stories and anyone who might want to tell a story is strongly encouraged to prepare one and give it a go!
How do I prepare a story?
Good question! Here is some advice to get started:
* Use the broad theme of the evening to inspire memories of personal, life-changing experiences. Choose one of your most memorable and share the moments leading up to and after the experience.
* Humor is always welcome, but don’t feel obligated to be funny. True voices on stage are just as powerful as humor.
* Try writing it down to get it down to five minutes and to pinpoint the most crucial moments you want to include.
