Get creative with fabric and haberdashery and make your stash come alive! Guided by contemporary mixed-media artist, Julie Hassall, and surrounded by the display of North Canterbury Wearable Arts winning works, there will be no shortage of inspiration. Make a bucket hat or big brim hat or, go freeform creative with fabric collage. If you don’t have your own fabric stash, you’re still welcome! Some materials will be supplied.

- Please be selective about what you bring; think no more than a tote bag full of supplies.
- Tea and coffee provided. Please visit Oxford’s shops and cafes for lunch, or bring a pack-up.
- This workshop has been developed for adults; but senior children, 16+ years and able to work independently, are welcome.

About the tutor:

Julie Hassall has a passion for beautiful fabrics, texture and colour. She says, “The fun begins when you bring these elements together to create unique contemporary mixed media paintings, clothing and home decor.

“I enjoy painting in acrylic and love combining fabric collage into my artwork to create mixed media works. I won the Best Mixed Media Artwork at the Kaiapoi Art Expo in 2022, my 1st art exhibition. My inspiration comes from nature depicting beautiful flower blooms, butterflies and moths.

“In the 1990s I trained in Fashion Design and Technology at Wellington Polytechnic followed by a varied career in the fashion industry. Now I share my sewing and creative skills teaching tuition in apparel, millinery and home decor.”
