Raumati South Repair Cafe

The Raumati South Repair Cafe returns on Sunday, February 19, for another go at fixing your stuff. The koha event invites again everyone to bring their broken items so the volunteers can see if they can repair them. At the initiative's last event in November, more than 70 locals brought 152 items to be fixed. Only 5% of these were beyond redemption. The skilled team of volunteers could either repair them or had other recommendations.

Repairs include sewing/mending, bike maintenance, electrical items, IT troubleshooting, garden tool and knife sharpening, jewellery repair and general repairs (try your luck). Community events where volunteers offer their services to mend, glue, nail, screw, stitch or check a wide range of items are popping up all over Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world. The Repair Cafe movement wants to foster a culture of repair and share skills on how to keep stuff in use.
