Join historian Michael Fowler who will give a talk on the Ngaruroro, Tutaekuri and Esk Rivers and attempts to control them over the years.

The illustrated talk will cover pre-European settlement, major floods of 1867, 1897, 1924 and 1938 - and the subsequent attempts to control what seemed untameable rivers from the 1860s to the end of the Hawke's Bay County Council area in 1989.

All proceeds donated to the Hawke's Bay Disaster Relief Fund for those affected by Cyclone Gabrielle.
