Come and join us for some special Matariki-themed crafts with all materials provided.

Make and decorate a pūrerehua (a bullroarer), a traditional Māori instrument that makes an atmospheric roaring sound when swung through the air, or decorate your own lantern to celebrate Māori New Year and welcome in the light as a sign of hope and prosperity for the year to come.

Artist Gabby Malpas has designed this unique lantern that can be used with tealight candles to celebrate the dawn of a new year.

There are fantastic, free resources and instructions on how to create something wonderful. Bring your whānau and celebrate Matariki with us.
