Join us as we embark on our journey of disrupting shame, stigma and stereotypes for Takatāpui, LGBTQIA+ and MVPFAFF+ communities.
Our Manioro Education session is aimed at Hawkes Bay service providers, community leaders, school staff, organisations, parents and whānau of people who identify as part of the Takatāpui, LGBTQIA+ and MVPFAFF+ communities.
Contemporary Performances by Ngā uri o Whiti te Rā Mai le Moana Trust (Porirua)
We are fortunate to be educated through contemporary arts of dance and visual storytelling. Themes of gender, sexuality, Mental Health and suicide will be portrayed. This performance will segway into a workshop on Mental Health.
Talanoa Panel Session
We will hear from Takatāpui & MVPFAFF+ individuals who either live in or whakapapa to Kahungunu. You will be privileged to hear of their experiences navigating sexuality, culture, religion, family, gender and identity. We will also hear from their whānau members who will share what their journey of understanding and tautoko looks like.
Takatāpui & MVPFAFF+ Organisations
You will hear from some amazing community organisations from around Aotearoa, NZ who are committed to enhancing the Mana of MVPFAFF+, LGBTQIA+ and Takatāpui peoples of all ages.
Phylesha Brown-Acton MNZM, executive director of F’INE Pasifika Aotearoa Trust coined the term MVPFAFF+ which represents Pasifika identities. We will be privileged to hear from her.
Manioro Pathways in Hawkes Bay
All in attendance will have opportunities to share their ideas of how we can make Te Matau-a-Māui more inclusive for Takatāpui, LGBTQIA+ and MVPFAFF+ communities.
