In the week after Christmas, Kiwis send 50,000 extra tonnes of waste to landfill.
It's estimated that we use 1600 tonnes of wrapping paper every Christmas, that’s the equivalent of 10 thousand trees. If that’s not enough for a re-think, then consider the 25,000 tonnes of plastic packaging waste that is expected to be discarded in Aotearoa.

We're running a workshop series to highlight this problem and to look at fun ways to reduce the amount of waste we create this Christmas. We'll be creating re-usable wrapping and decorations that's personalised to you and your whānau.

There will be a variety of craft stations and everything you make on the day you can take home with you for free. Includes making santa stockings, learning how to wrap gifts in fabric (bring some along if you want to try) and sewing a reusable Christmas cracker that you can fill with gifts you'd actually enjoy!

There will be activities for all ages. Bring the whole family and get creative in reducing your waste this Christmas - while making everything more personalised and fun!
Entry is free and you get to keep everything that you make on the day.
