Woolston Brass Academy presents KidsFest Big Brass Bang!

Celebrating 132 years, today the Woolston organisation has 120+ members across three brass bands; Woolston Junior Band, Woolston Concert Brass and Woolston Brass, and a Learners Group. Their leading Academy education programme teaches over 80 children and adults, and provides a positive environment for them to learn music and engage with the community through concert performances, local and National contests. Many Woolston Concert Brass members progress to Christchurch’s iconic Woolston Brass.

In association with KidsFest, Woolston Junior Band with Music Director Vickie van Uden will entertain and showcase their talents on Sunday 2 July, 2pm-3pm at McCombs Performing Arts Centre at Cashmere High School performing a diverse range of fun and entertaining music that will get you clapping along and bouncing in your seat! The 60-minute concert will feature tunes such as 'Ghostbusters', Bruno Mars hit 'Marry You', a brand new march composition entitled 'Christchurch City March', and 'Singing in the Rain' featuring an array of wonderful percussion instruments from Xylophone to Vibraphone.

Come along to enjoy and be inspired by this fine band that consists of the up-and-coming talented generation of brass and percussion players. After the concert there will be opportunities to try a brass instrument and learn more about the Academy. Early Bird tickets available from Eventfinda or Door Sales $10 (Eftpos/Cash), children under 14 free!
