Hamilton City Brass are joined by a Festival Chorus (made from members of various Hamilton/Waikato choirs) to perform The Armed Man (A Mass for Peace) by Karl Jenkins.

The piece was commissioned in 1999 to mark the transition from one millennium to another and reflects on the passing of ‘the most war-torn and destructive century in human history” looking forward in hope to a more peaceful future.

From the sounds of the military drums signalling the inevitable beginning of war, to the breath-taking Benedictus and the final chorale “… God shall wipe away all tears… and there shall be no more death”, The Armed Man is intense, beautiful and deeply moving.

This performance of The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins, arranged by Andrew Wainwright & Duncan Gibbs is given by permission of Hal Leonard Australia Pty. Ltd. exclusive agent for Boosey & Hawkes Music Publishers Ltd of London.
