50 Year Anniversary Tour.

Fifty years ago, a young singer-songwriter entered the Kiwi consciousness with what was to become an environmental anthem entitled Dam the Dam.

What followed was a brief but stellar career that included a handful of Top Ten hits and two Double-Gold selling albums: Garden Fresh and Higher Trails along with an impressive number of industry awards.

— Three Recording Composer of the Year Awards in succession: 1974 Is it Natural, 1975 Higher
Trails, 1976 Nightlife
— Two APRA Silver Scrolls in succession: 1974 Lovely Lady, 1975 Windsongs
— Single of the Year 1973: Damn the Dam
— Album of the Year 1975: Higher Trails

Then in 1977, at the height of his career, John chose to walk away from the stage in search of a more private life.

He continued to write and record songs and has released several well-reviewed albums. https://johnhanlon1.bandcamp.com

Now, after lying low for two generations, John is beginning a series of intimate acoustic concerts around New Zealand to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Release of Damn the Dam in 1973.

These concerts will be relaxed evenings, just John lounging around with his guitar occasionally joined by his wife, Yana Zuyeva, on violin, playing songs old and new scattered liberally with anecdotes.

This will not just be a night for John Hanlon fans from the 70s, but an unmissable evening for anyone interested in how songs are born.
