This June, Wellington’s Jenny Mitchell is bringing her award-winning folk/alt-country sound to the Carterton Events Centre. Jenny will be joined by Wellington musicians Michael Muggeridge and Aaron Stewart – and special guest, Jenny’s younger sister, Nicola Mitchell.

Originally from Gore, Jenny’s music defies easy categorisation but if you admire music by genre-defying artists from Emmylou Harris to Kasey Chambers, you’ll love Jenny. Described by Rolling Stone as, “her best work yet,” her new album, Tug of War, was a 2022 Aotearoa Music Award Nominee and is home to the 2022 APRA Best Country Song; Trouble Finds a Girl.

The Bush & the Birds Tour is an extension of track 11 from her most recent album; a song that pays tribute to the sister’s late Grandad Bruce and a celebration of the love of the land, and the creatures that live in it, that he handed down to the Mitchell whānau. In the spirit of his legacy, Jenny will be donating 10% of show profits directly to Forest & Bird; NZ’s largest independent conservation organisation.
