Improv for Kids Holiday Program

THREE DAY CAMP
Sept. 25-27, 2023 9am-3pm Monday- Wednesday

Meegwai is ready to host your child for three fun-filled days of improv theatre fun times!

Aimed at 8-12-year-olds, this mini holiday camp will be 3 days filled with interactive theatre games, storytelling, physical comedy and all sorts of make ‘em ups, with absolutely no phones and no devices… 3 days of action-packed, extreme silliness and maximum laughter, all in the absence of tech (except the thing that plays the music for us).

No experience in drama or theatre necessary. Shy children welcome.

Meegwai is Derek and Michi Flores. Two Canadians who were once theatre kids themselves who have been based in Christchurch for 10 years. In addition to performing and teaching around the world they have also taught for the Court Theatre, many Christchurch schools, including St. Andrew’s and Rangi Ruru, and for Artists in Schools (Verb Festival) in Wellington.

Some nice words from pleased parents and tickled teachers:

I just wanted to say again a massive thank you… our boys had such a wonderful time. The play/work felt like such a breath of fresh air and so vital in these disconnected and difficult times — all the more so for being brought to us, and us brought along into it, in the most expertly pitched, structured and communicated way, thanks to you both.
- Rachel Somerfield, Wellington

It was awesome, loved it, they did a fantastic job - teacher at St. Mark’s, Wellington

“Wow, I can’t believe that student came out of her shell and participated like that, she always hangs back and hides in class”. - Teacher of Year 8 student at St. Bernadette’s.

' I also admired the way you were so affirming and respectful of the students' ideas. It was great to see students come out of their shells in just one hour working with them. Maybe you two really are magical unicorns. Like they do exist but only in ChCh lol.' - Paula, Librarian St. Mark’s Wellington

High praise from young people we have worked with:

'That was the best day I ever had at school' - Student at St. Peter Paul, Lower Hutt

‘fun...got to do a lot of stuff we hadn't done before’ - Year 3 student, St. Peter Paul Lower Hutt

Purchasing a ticket you are paying for a three-day workshop for your child that starts on Monday September 25th and ends on Wednesday September 27th. The daily sessions run from 9:00am - 3:00pm. We look forward to welcoming your child during school holidays!
