Free guided tours, suitable for all ages and mobility-levels, through one of New Zealand's finest buildings. Government House has category-one heritage status and is the home of the Governor-General of New Zealand. The house was built in 1910 and extensively refurbished in 2008. It has a large collection of New Zealand art and Taonga. Tours start in the Visitor Centre, and then explore the house and (weather and mobility permitting) the grounds. We have onsite parking. School group and community group tours available by contacting the Visitor Centre direct: bookings@govthouse.govt.nz. Bookings essential. Registrations close 24 Hours before a tour. Registration details may be checked by NZ Police. Adults require photo ID for entry. Check your spam/junk folder if your booking confirmation doesn't arrive.
