Frankie McMillan: Creative Writing Workshop

In this lively session with Frankie McMillan you'll get an overview of flash fiction (stories under 1000 words) and prose poetry, look at examples from well-known writers, and begin to draft some of your own small stories. Suitable for beginners and those with more writing experience.

Frankie McMillan is an award-winning poet and short fiction writer. Her book, The Father of Octopus Wrestling and other small fictions was listed in Spinoff as one of the ten best New Zealand fiction books of 2019. In the same year it was shortlisted for the NZSA Heritage awards. Her latest book The Wandering Nature of Us Girls (Canterbury University Press) was published in 2022.

Frankie has taught creative writing for over 20 years and currently runs classes at the Linwood Art Gallery in Ōtautahi Christchurch.
