Papakura Art Gallery warmly invites you to celebrate the opening of 'where day and night shall meet and not be one' by Heratiki Rawiri and Elise Sadlier.

-

Framed as a love letter to whanau and whakapapa, Heratiki and Elise’s exhibition stands at the intersection of the Te Ao Wairua and Te Ao Tūroa. They examine culturally loaded spaces that serve as gateways; and what it means to be able to walk between these spaces.

Elise’s Ārai is a manifestation of the veil made of foraged skeleton leaves coated with epoxy. Her paintings provide a window into a different world speaking to notions of home.

Heratiki’s photography and paintings document the candid intimacy of her family, selecting images that carry with them a sense of wairua. In her series she focuses on domesticity and displacement.

-

The opening will commence at 10:30 AM and the gallery will close at 2:00 PM.
This exhibition will be on show from 18 November – 10 February 2024.
This is a free event and no registration is required.
This event is wheelchair accessible and whānau friendly.
Light refreshments will be provided.
