Don’t Bring a Thing Part 1): a Beginner’s Watercolour Workshop
Saturday 2 September / 11.30AM – 3PM / $100PP

*We are running this workshop for second time due to popular demand! It is also an opportunity for participants who attended the workshop in June, to repeat and solidify their foundational skills. Please see details below the workshop on Saturday 9 September, if you’re ready to move to Part 2.*

This is a half day introduction to watercolour for beginners. You will be guided, every step of the way, with a tutor who knows how beginners think and feel, and will teach you the basic skills to dispel those age old myths about watercolour being a difficult medium.

You will learn the four key ways to using watercolour, what papers work best and why, the differences in pigments, what water will do, and what it won’t do, as well as what brushes can be used to produce amazing effects.

Techniques will be demonstrated by the tutor and students will use top quality artists grade paints and paper, all supplied by the tutor.

You will be sitting down at tables, not standing at easels. Watercolour kit sets with paper, paints and brushes, will be available for purchase from the tutor following the workshop for $70 per pack, to enable you to continue practising your new skills from the get-go. (Please note the tutor has no eftpos facilities.)

This workshop is for people aged 18 and above.
Tea and coffee provided.
An apron to protect your clothing would be handy as well as a notebook and pen if wishing to take notes.
Please bring a packed lunch or support your local cafes and shops.
About the tutor:
Award winning Australian/British artist and tutor Neela Curran, strongly believes that a few people are born with natural talent… and that she is not one of them… but that the other 99 per cent of people can learn to paint and draw, like learning to read and write.

Neela is passionate about introducing beginners to the therapeutic world of art, and once believing that she had no drawing or painting skills whatsoever, taught herself to paint reading over 100 watercolour books and then developed an easy going, relaxed style of teaching to help beginners feel comfortable, gain confidence and self esteem.
