ABOUT CHRISTINA
Christina Ellison is a highly sought-after Auckland based coloratura soprano with a flair for high notes and entertaining. She was lined up to sing the role of Queen of the night (The Magic Flute) for Festival opera in Napier (whose season was cancelled due to the flooding) and understudied for the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor with Wellington Opera. Christina has sung as a featured soloist for many musical groups around Auckland, including the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, Auckland Sinfonietta, Devonport Chamber Orchestra and most recently was the featured soloist for the Auckland Symphony Orchestra's "Last Night of The Proms". She holds a Bachelor of Music with first class Honours in classical voice from the University of Auckland, completed under the extraordinary Dr. Morag Atchison. Her voice continues to be shaped by the teaching of Swedish Mezzo Soprano Dr. Catrin Johnsson. She continues to celebrate many sucesses in operatic aria and recital competitions around New Zealand, including winning the Becroft Aria, (2020) the Te Awamutu aria (2022) and Ronald Dellow recital (2022), Judge's choice at the Dunedin aria adjudicated by Kiri te Kanawa (2022), Best overall performer in the Wellington performing arts competitions and was a finalist in the prestigious New Zealand Aria (2022).
