Family historian Pauline Weeks looks at Industrial Schools, Orphanages, Asylum, and Prison Records to show you how to paint a picture of your ancestors’ lives. They are often the most colourful ancestors, and you can find records related to them in many places, including the Archives, Government Gazettes, and newspapers.
About the speaker
Pauline grew up in Auckland but now lives in Sydney. She has a background in journalism, public relations, and philanthropy, and is a qualified librarian. She has been researching genealogy for 30 years and is a graduate of the UTAS Diploma of Family History. She is a member of both the Society of Australian Genealogists (SAG) and the New Zealand Society of Genealogists (NZSG). She has a particular interest in New Zealand History and incorporating social history into genealogy research. Her focus areas in New Zealand are the West Coast and Southland.
