We are thrilled to welcome the incredible Fifi Colston as our speaker for Capital Conversations. Fifi is a multiple award-winning World of WearableArt designer with 28 finalist entries in show since 1995. She is also an award-winning junior fiction author and children’s book illustrator of more than 50 titles.
Fifi works in Aotearoa New Zealand’s film, television and publishing industries as a costumier, puppet maker, writer and illustrator. She shares her expertise with school and community groups, inspiring budding artists and writers through workshops in creative process.
Join us to hear Fifi’s personal anecdotes about her life and mahi, as well as her connection to Wellington as a city. Fifi has a long-held affinity with Wellington. Learn how the capital fostered her creative endeavours since arriving here at age 8.
Fifi’s talk will also cover her work in illustration, prop design and her long-standing involvement with the World of WearableArt. Alongside stunning imagery of her creations in her PowerPoint presentation, she also will bring along pieces of her work including puppets, props and small WOW pieces.
Fifi’s talk will be approximately 50 minutes and followed by a 10-minute Q&A session.
Doors open at 5pm, and the talk begins at 5:45pm.
Tickets includes one drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and grazing platters throughout the evening. There will also be a cash bar available.
