Trio sonatas belong to the core of instrumental music of the baroque period, with Corelli credited with laying the foundation for this genre. This favorite chamber music combination typically consists of three parts, most commonly for two violins and continuo which may have two components. First, it includes the bass line, which in this case is played by a cello, second, it includes a harmony-producing instrument, in this case a theorbo. Thus, the trio sonatas may actually be played by four players.
The musicians will be performing on authentic period instruments in venues that fulfill the acoustical needs of these period instruments, by supporting the beauty of the sound as a natural amplifier. The resulting music is authentic and clear; one can hear all the voices and you the listener, can have the most satisfying musical experience, as though you had traveled back in time to 17th century Europe.
So come and enjoy this beautiful music with us!
