Join Annie Mackenzie artist and weaver for a day learning the fundamental techniques of the drop spindle. During this workshop, we will delve right into the possibilities that this very simple tool provides for making your own cords and string from fibre, including wool, silk and linen. Participants will also learn a couple of plying techniques to add to their tool kit.

You will be provided with a range of fibres including silk and linen to learn and experiment with and also have the opportunity to purchase an NZ-made drop spindle ($15) to take home to continue your spinning journey.

The spinning technique you will learn is an ancient craft practised by people throughout the world for thousands of years. Through learning this timeless skill you will discover the beauty within a handspun cord.

This class is suitable for beginners
