Annie Lune is a three-piece band from Te Whanganui-a-Tara/ Wellington, in Aotearoa NZ. Comprised of Megan O’Donovan (vocals, guitar, percussion), Annie Scherrer (vocals, piano, guitar) and Gill Watson (drums, vocals), the group was initially formed to realise a dream of Megan’s: a professional recording of one of her songs. The three women soon realised that they had something special going on and decided to form a band to showcase the song writing talents of Megan and Annie.

Annie Lune brings together lush vocals, colourful instrumentation and solid beats, playing a mixture of original tunes and choice covers. The song writing is honest, raw and vulnerable, drawing on life experiences and strong feelings. Influences include folk, electronica, pop soul and melodic trip hop. A sweet little trio of melodic guitar, soulful keys and percussion, all wrapped up in generous harmonies – Annie Lune gives you something to move to.

Megan was born in Whakatū/ Nelson and has grown up in Wellington. She has been writing songs out of the spotlight for roughly ten years, and in recent years has released a handful of songs under her own name.

Annie grew up in Tauranga-Moana/ Tauranga and moved to Wellington to pursue tertiary music studies. She has been playing piano and guitar since the age of 7, and also teaches singing, piano and guitar. Annie recently performed in sold out show “Unforgettable – The Nat King Cole Story” as part of the Tauranga Jazz Festival.

Gill is a Sydneysider who followed her heart and moved to Wellington with her now-husband over 13 years ago. She started learning to play the drums while living in London and was delighted to join Brewhaha in 2010 and continue her passion for making music with others.

Take Up Space is the debut single from the magical collaboration between Megan O’Donovan and Annie Lune. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Jake Stokes and scheduled for release on Friday 16 June 2023. Presales available on Bandcamp now!

Annie Lune will be celebrating the impending release with a gig at Moon on Sunday 11 June.
