When science and art collide! Come and learn about an amazing animal that inspired Frida Kahlo’s artwork – and made a cameo in it.

Kat Greenham will join us at the Gallery and teach us how to do a spider monkey wave. We’ll then cross live to Auckland Zoo to meet the troop of black-handed spider monkeys and to hear about their amazing adaptations.

Programmed as part of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera: Art and Life in Modern Mexico, this enthralling presentation will have you finding inspiration to create your own artwork inspired by this fascinating animal.

Kat Greenham is a facilitator in the Conservation Learning Team at Auckland Zoo. She is passionate about making wildlife accessible to all and connecting communities to nature.

The exhibition is organised by the Vergel Foundation and MondoMostre in collaboration with the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura.
