Allophones Matinee

[Allophones] have unfurled ambitious third single and video 'Casings & Threats', a nearly six minute epic befitting the scope of their just announced twelve date release tour, taking them all around Aotearoa this September and October. The fast-rising Ōtepoti team of Tane Cotton, Barney Connolly and Ben Connolly, their new song's myriad twists and turns achieve scorching, post rock-operatic heights as Cotton's dramatic vocals detail "grim territories of abandonment, decay, and death" — fittingly bleak material for your Tuesday, recorded with Nick Roughan and mastered by Tex Houston.

Continuing in the dystopian vein of May's single 'Eyeball', the monochromatic clip for 'Casings & Threats' is directed by the Connolly siblings, depicting a forlorn figure named TV Head dwelling alone in the fringes within an industrial junk heap, swerving towards violent mayhem as the song nears its frenzied climax.
