A Gifted Treasure: James Mackelvie’s Bequest

A shrewd businessman and successful investor, James Tannock Mackelvie was the founding benefactor of the Mackelvie Collection. The collection of significant books, paintings, works on paper, decorative arts and māori artefacts is a valuable part of Auckland's heritage.

Join Kenneth Brummel, Curator, International Art at Auckland Art Gallery Toi O Tāmaki in the Mackelvie Gallery to learn more about this gifted treasure.

Thursday 5 Oct, Pm-4pm, Auckland Art Gallery. All are welcome.

We’ll meet in the Main Gallery Foyer at PM, before heading up to the Mackelvie Gallery together. If you’ve any questions please contact renee@mackelviesociety.com or 64 211496707.

This event is part of Auckland Council’s Auckland Heritage Festival, from 23 September to 8 October 2023. Visit heritagefestival.co.nz for a full list of events, or pick up a print programme from an Auckland Council Library. For Festival updates follow us on Facebook Aklheritage.
