Auckland Council Libraries is delighted to co-host the international touring exhibition ‘Yokai Parade: Supernatural Monsters from Japan’ at Tāmaki Pātaka Kōrero Auckland Central City Library from 29 September to 6 November 2022.
This exhibition introduces Auckland audience to Japan’s Yokai (Japanese folkloric imaginary monsters) culture that extend from ancient period to the present day in various forms – picture scrolls, prints, movies, toys and in their pop culture Manga and Anime.
Alongside the exhibition, an exciting range of family activities, performances and events will also be on offer to make this fully interactive celebration of the diverse cultures of Tāmaki Makaurau.

‘Yokai Parade: Supernatural Monsters from Japan’ is organised by Auckland Council Libraries in collaboration with the Consulate-General of Japan in Auckland and the Japan Foundation.
