Do you know where toilet paper comes from?
Would you like to know where our wood products in New Zealand come from, how a renewable resource is produced and cared for in our environment, and by who?
Then come and listen to author Erica Kinder read from her book 'Fred the Forester'.
You can sit in a log truck to find out where the driver’s blind spots are and get up close with real foresters and log truck drivers.
Trees provide many benefits for our environment, health and wellbeing, and for our economy. New Zealand plantation forests have been producing timber for over 100 years for all our needs and this large vibrant sector has much to offer our future fibre needs as we move away from fossil fuels and into a greener world.
The team from Wood is Good, a primary school forest education programme run by the Wood Councils of New Zealand, will be on-site all day to reveal all. There will be free wooden prizes, wood-based games, activity books, and a range of children’s books for sale explaining the forestry sector.
Come and meet a forester and learn a love of trees!
