Wishing Upon a Star

This winter Māpura artists will come together through art to celebrate Matariki, a time to remember the past, celebrate the present and dream about what lies ahead. As a vulnerable community of artists we have been particularly impacted by COVID restrictions for several years, often unable to meet in person and leave our homes to come together and make art. This exhibition is named for Hiwa-i-te-rangi, the wishing star. She represents our hopes and wishes for a new beginning and a brighter future.

The works will be installed at Alberton, a historic homestead in the heart of Mt Albert, Wed 29 June - Sunday 3 July. Alberton is open 10.30am - 4.00pm Wednesday to Sunday

On Friday 1st July 6.00-8.00pm there will also be an special evening event with some light based works to enjoy.
