Hello Comedy presents the WINTER COMEDY SPECIAL, a night of live laughs featuring multi award winning comedians at one of Whanganui’s coolest live venues.
We are proud to announce our headliner Rhys Mathewson, the youngest comedian to win the Billy T and Fred award! Where have you seen Rhys before? He is a TV regular on Seven Sharp, 7 Days and other shows which don’t have a 7 in the title. Since starting stand up as a 15-year-old, Rhys has blitzed his way to the top of the New Zealand comedy world and shows no sign of slowing down. His 2021 Comedy Festival Show ‘Heartless Joke Machine’ was a complete sell out and earned rave reviews. Don’t miss your chance to see him live in Whanganui.
Hosted by Brendon Green who has over a decade of experience preforming in NZ and overseas. After being voted Best Newcomer at the 2012 NZ International Comedy Festival, Green has become a regular on the festival scene racking up awards and nominations (2014 Billy T nominee, 2018 Best Storyteller Auckland Fringe Festival and more). His stand up is warm, open, and with a sharpness that ensures the audience has a great time with some surprises along the way.
Also featuring local comedy legend Kajun Campbell Brooking, who in his short career has already earned several awards including 2021 Best Comedian at the Comedy Hub and DIY Awards. Come see why the Whanganui Chronicle and many others consider Kajun to be Whanganui’s funniest man.
But that’s not all! We are also bringing Chelsea McEwan Millar to town! Chelsea is an Auckland based actor and improv performer with loads of live and TV experience. When there’s not a raging pandemic, she performs with the improv group Heartthrobs, who won Best Comedy at the Auckland Fringe in 2019.

Dash Ambrose has achieved a level of legend after selling out festival shows and playing Auckland’s Bruce Mason Center (conference room 2). Don’t miss their much-anticipated return to the stage.
