Tipene Fitzell is a 15 year Takiwatanga artist from Ngati Uenukukõpako /Ngai Tukairangi and Ngati Ngararanui.

Tipene was born considering, observing and questioning. A young man whose creative mind and ability to think deeply and wisely is a wonder to behold.

This is the gift of takiwātanga.

Vibrancy and new ways of experiencing and understanding life.

Part of takiwātanga is the ability to hold quiet space for long periods of time. Tipene reminds us that seeds grow with no sound but Rakau (trees) fall with great noise.

The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.

Tipene lives in Rotorua and is the second eldest of seven siblings. Tipene has been expressing himself through art from as soon as his hands could clutch a pen or pencil.

Now almost a man, He looks forward to one day receiving his mataora.
