Class Name: The Cyanotype Blues
Tutor: Linda Evangaline-Smith

Class Size: 12 (max number of students)

Linda Evangaline-Smith is an artist and teacher with a passion for all things to do with printmaking – but life drawing, illustration, painting and construction are all keen interests. Problem-solving and learning new things and ways of making are always going to be a focus and motivator in her creative practice. The hands-on, energetic and ‘getting messy’ way of learning and teaching is an approach that Linda enjoys most.

Class Description
Cyanotype is a printmaking process that was first introduced by John Herschel in 1842. Sir John was an astronomer, trying to find a way of copying his notes. The process that he discovered makes beautiful prints in a range of blues. We will be learning the processes involved in making these prints in this workshop. In this four-day workshop you will be able to make a series of prints on paper or fabric. These prints can be made with photographic images, found objects and your own drawings. You will have the opportunity to experiment and see what you can make happen.

What materials will be needed?
Photographs on USB or in an email that is accessible.
Objects and drawings that you may want to use.
The tutor will provide paper but you may wish to bring a high-quality paper for finished prints.
Fabric if you wish to use a particular type.
Pens and pencils for sketching.
Bring your own lunch and snacks.
