The Clay Club with Jemma Giorza

Explore the exciting world of ceramics and learn basic clay techniques such as making pinch pots, slab building, joining and surface decoration. We will experiment with flowers and natural materials and you are welcome to bring a photo of your pet or favourite animal! Ages 7 - 11 years.

Tutor Gemma is an artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau. She completed her Honours in Art History at Auckland University in 2020 and has been working in various art galleries since then. As a self-taught potter and a painter from early age, Jemma's day to day life is infused with art on many different levels. Having formal training in Art History means she can appreciate different styles and ways of expression and hopes to draw out each child's individuality. It is also very important to her that art is fun and explorative, the process is where the learning happens and allows children to look at the world closely, differently and explore expression through different materials.
