Join local Project Tongariro conservation legends for a walk around the shores of South Lake Taupo's wonderful wetlands - Te Matapuna. Explore the 'kidneys of the lake' and learn about this unique landscape and its inhabitants.
Come and see for yourself what 15 years of restoration work looks like! Bring shoes you won’t mind getting wet (or tall gumboots) No cost, but a koha to a local restoration project will be appreciated!
Trip Length: 4-5 hours

Cost: Koha to the Tauranga-Taupo Restoration
May be cancelled/postponed due to weather. Other conditions for cancellation/postponement include covid alert level changes.
Participants are asked to bring the following:
- Gumboots / or shoes you’re ok with getting wet
- Weather suitable clothing -ie waterproof and warm clothing if wet weather
- Packed lunch and water
- Sturdy tramping/walking shoes
- Personal medication
- Camera
