31 January – 7 February with activities offering something for everyone

While the commemorations will be different for this years' Waitangi Day in Te Anau, there is still a great deal on offer to help mark this important day in our nation's history.

Generous support received by funders in 2021 means that most of the activities and small-scale events can be enjoyed for free.

Places at some of these events are limited, so we encourage people to plan and book.

For more information, check out the full programme on our website and follow us on Facebook.

Programme highlights include:

- evening performance by critically acclaimed artist and storyteller Marcus Winter, also known as the 'Sandman' - a mesmerising combination of light, sound, and sand to tell stories and share knowledge about Te Ao – Māori. A kapa haka performance by Ngā Hau E Whā will start the evening, hosted at the Te Anau Club. For information on bookings visit Eventbrite or our Facebook event.

- a mixed-media art competition and exhibition

- a cultural and historic cruise package on board Faith with Fiordland Historic Cruises, Ron Bull and Ngā Hau E Whā kapa haka performers (book directly with Fiordland Historic Cruises)

- a selfie photographic hikoi competition

- spot the Treaty Scrolls scavenger hunt

- film screenings of Moana and Cousins at Fiordland Cinema. Moana screenings will have a special guest performance by Jaedyn Randell, who played the voice of Moana Waialiki in Disney's te reo Māori release of the hit movie. For information on bookings visit Eventbrite or our Facebook event here https://fb.me/e/2mPEp1eFK

- Raranga harakeke (flax weaving) workshops with local weaver Des Cooper
