With an air of excitement in all four corners of the racecourse; high-class thoroughbred racing, hospitality & free family entertainment combines to bring you one of Auckland's favourite occasions - the SkyCity New Year's Day Races.
This is an event where no one misses out on the fun. From a relaxed general admission approach, through to the stylish and lively experience of Cuvée, indoor dining of Silks, your own private function or more - this day has something for everyone.
We're bringing some free activities for the younger ones to enjoy between races on the Newmarket Lawn (all tickets provide access to this area) including a bouncy castle and swing ball games. What's more, if they're under 15 years of age they also get FREE general admission. You can bring your own picnic food, unopened non-alcoholic beverages, umbrella, deck chairs and more to help enjoy your day with in outdoor general admission areas

Ellerslie Racecourse is a fully-licensed facility and BYO is not permitted. Free parking. Ticket prices include a 2.5% transaction fee. A separate booking fee of $1.50 per ticket also applies upon purchase.

Ellerslie Racecourse will be operating as a “vaccination required venue” while Auckland operates under the COVID-19 Protection Framework ("traffic light" system), or similar. As a result, racegoers will be required to present a valid COVID-19 Vaccine Pass along with a suitable form of photographic identification in order to be able to enter the racecourse. * Children under the age of 12 years and three months, as well as those who present a valid medical exemption from [the approved COVID-19] vaccine(s)" as issued by New Zealand's Ministry of Health in conjunction with a matching and legal and valid form of photographic identification, are not required to show a valid My Vaccine Pass in order to obtain entry into our site(s).
